On Monday 29th August 2022, I married the most wonderful man I have ever met.
For four years he has been my best friend, my lover, my fiercest supporter, and my greatest teacher.
In a wedding ceremony filled with love, joy, laughter, and togetherness, we made a promise to double each other’s joys and halve each other’s difficulties for the rest of our lives.
During Corbin’s speech, he announced that there was someone very special who couldn’t be with us today, but who was looking forward to seeing everyone very soon.
We projected a picture of an ultrasound, and our loved ones found out, for the first time, that I’m pregnant with our first child.
Everyone laughed, cried, and cheered.
I don’t drink, so instead of boozy late-night dancing, we hosted a Mr and Mrs quiz after dinner.
Each table had members of both Corbin and my clans, to give everyone the best chance of success at the quiz, and so our families and friends could get to know each other.
The quiz was hosted by my 21-year-old brother who was so hilarious in his roasts of the wedding-goers (and the bride and groom!) that we were falling about laughing.
The last question of round 2 was:
What is the sex of Lauren and Corbin’s baby?
Everyone had to cast their votes using their phones.
After the last vote was cast, the correct answer was revealed:
A baby girl!!!
Rapturous applause rose from the audience, especially from my family, as there hasn’t been a girl born anywhere in my family for over 32 years!
After the wedding, Corbin and I were whisked off to the Blythswood Hotel for our ‘mini-moon’. Upon arrival at the hotel, the reception staff congratulated us, and we were informed that we had been upgraded to their best room.
We had the most amazing wedding. It was everything I hoped it would be. Collectively, our guests travelled over 30,000 miles to be with us, from Johannesburg, Cape Town, California and Zurich. A testament to the love shared between Corbin, myself, and our friends and family.
And so a new chapter of my life begins, as wife, mother, and Mrs Lady Mayne.
I was only Mrs Mayne for a few short hours before Corbin’s brother Matthew presented us with our wedding gift. A piece of land purchased in our honour, in beautiful Glencoe, Scotland, as part of conservation efforts to preserve the highland wilderness. With the land came the titles of Lord and Lady, so we began married life as Lord and Lady Mayne of Glencoe.
I am still reeling from all the excitement, and we have guests staying with us from overseas. I will write to you next week, but it will probably be a catch-up. Normal service will resume the week beginning 12th September.
All My Love,
Lady Lauren Sarah Mayne of Glencoe (and baby peanut)
Ps. Lots more pics and stories to follow!
✨Congratulations to you both.. Wishing you both a lifetime of health, wealth and happiness 🥂🍾✨
Oh wow Lauren, this is a great love story and a wonderful start to your married life! Congratulations!
