Is mediumship a bio-internet?
Mediumship, at its core, is the practice of attempting to prove the existence of life after bodily death.
Mediumship, at its core, is the practice of attempting to prove the existence of life after bodily death.
The kind that I practise is called mental mediumship , meaning that all communication comes through me, as the person in spirit impresses true information about themselves into my mind. I then convey this information to a living recipient - usually a loved one who knew the communicator well, and he or she confirms whether the information is accurate. If enough of the information given is accurate, and they are confident beyond reasonable doubt that it was not obtained from elsewhere, then this proves the existence of another intelligence. This is the continued intelligence of the person in spirit.
Now, in the age of technology, social media acts as a pretty good metaphor for the spirit world, mediumship, and spirit communication. Human beings have become experts at building disembodied intelligence, information and interaction. Think of social media: If your computer was taken offline, switched off, or even destroyed, all of your shared memories - videos, photos, posts, comments, likes and dislikes, and network of friends would remain. And this ‘imprint’ of you would be accessible from other computers, for a very long time. To me, this is a great analogy for what happens when we die, and how mediums can access some aspects of our personalities and identities. Our bodies go offline, but many of the images, experiences and ideas that were important to us, and which we identified with, remain.
Mediums seem to be able to ‘log in’ and, with varying intensities of resolution, can view the personalities of people who are no longer physically with us, reporting what they find in ways that comfort the living.
What do you think of this theory? How do you think mediumship works?
Hey Lauren!! I think this is a great analogy of how mediumship works.
