We’ve all been there.
We start to give a message from spirit, and the recipient says ‘yes’, then something changes.
Maybe we get ‘in our heads’ about it.
Maybe something distracts us…
Or perhaps the link just isn’t strong.
After a few statements, we issue the dreaded words, ‘I’m not getting anything.’
Or for those of us who are newer to mediumship, this statement can become a crutch - our get-out-of-jail-free card. We roll up to our local spiritual centre or spiritualist church to sit in development circle for the first time. We close our eyes and ‘connect’, but honestly, we just seem to be staring at the backs of our eyelids. The circle-leader asks us to give a message, and we don’t have the foggiest clue where to begin. We sit there, frozen, for what seems like eternity. We feel the group’s gaze boring into us. Unable to take the pressure a moment longer we say: ‘I’m not getting anything.’
Words have power. The things we think and say shape our destiny. So if you want to get great at mediumship, I’d invite you to never use the phrase, ‘I’m not getting anything.’ Just this one tweak will make a big difference to the accuracy and consistency of your links.
‘I’m not getting anything.’
It’s such a conversation closer. Such an admission of defeat. To strike this from your vocabulary, and commit to staying open, even when you feel embarrassed or unsure, is a true act of bravery and commitment to your mediumship!
What should we say instead?
If you're having difficulty initiating or holding a link with a spirit communicator, questions can help you move past the feeling of being stuck.
The right question puts you into a state of curiosity, promoting openness and receptivity.
The right question, offered to the right communicator, can act as a key, unlocking a flood of information about that person. Some of my sittings that started out the worst have ended up the most detailed and meaningful because I asked the communicator the right question.
